Briefly…
My first camera was a Yashica Mat LM, a twin-lens reflex that I acquired at age 11. At that same time I had a darkroom at home where I developed and printed black and white images. Despite having started printing at a young age, my darkroom skills were never very good.
After my stay in France during the 70s, where I also had a darkroom (and where my efforts continued to fall short of decent), I dropped doing serious photography and worked in the investment department of a philanthropy. In 2023, eight years into retirement, I scanned some of those old negs and had prints made by a firm that knows how to print.
The results were so much better than my own attempts that, surprised by how good the prints looked, I took up photography again.
I have always been a complete amateur; I have not sold a single print in my life. While I might have fantasies about garnering appreciation on this site that might lead to some interest in acquiring my work, the site is not set up for commerce and I have no plans to change that.
