My Photo Journey

I’ve been taking black and white pictures since the 1970s, when I studied and worked in Paris. My camera was a Pentax Spotomatic SLR with 50 and 28mm lenses. As part of a post-retirement project I scanned hundreds of negatives from that decade.

That project revived my interest in photography. My first professional digital camera was an OM System micro-four-thirds, which I like for its compact design and choice of lenses.

But inspired by those negs from the 70s, I wanted to shoot black and white, real black and white. So I acquired a Leica Q2 monochrome. My home turf is New York City, as shown by the picture on this page, which was taken on Roosevelt Island last April.

I have also ventured back into film photography with a Nikon F from the 1960s and an F2 from the 70s.
